What happened instead is when I attempt to resume my E6420 after suspending it, I can see the mouse pointer, but it appears that the resume never completes. The screen stays blank although it appears to be attempting to refresh the screen occasionally. The only way to continue work appears to be to force it to shut down by holding down the power button and then booting from scratch. Rebooting using the reboot command works flawlessly. I went through the DebuggingKernelSuspend procedure and output from /proc/acpi/wakeup: Device S-state Status Sysfs node HDEF S4 *disabled pci:0000:00:1b.0 GLAN S4 *enabled pci:0000:00:19.0 RP01 S4 *disabled pci:0000:00:1c.0 PXSX S4 *disabled RP02 S4 *disabled pci:0000:00:1c.1 PXSX S4 *disabled pci:0000:03:00.0 RP04 S4 *disabled pci:0000:00:1c.3 PXSX S4 *disabled RP05 S4 *disabled PXSX S4 *disabled RP06 S4 *disabled pci:0000:00:1c.5 PXSX S4 *disabled pci:0000:0b:00.0 RP07 S4 *disabled PXSX S4 *disabled RP08 S4 *disabled PXSX S4 *disabled PEG0 S4 *disabled pci:0000:00:01.0 PEGP S4 *disabled PEG1 S4 *disabled PEG2 S4 *disabled PEG3 S4 *disabled RP03 S4 *disabled pci:0000:00:1c.2 PXSX S4 *disabled EHC2 S1 *enabled pci:0000:00:1a.0 EHCI S1 *enabled pci:0000:00:1d.0 LID S3 *disabled PBTN S3 *disabled output from 'sudo sh -c "sync && echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace && pm-suspend"': sh: 1: cannot create /sys/power/pm_trace: Directory nonexistent ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: linux-image-3.8.0-30-generic 3.8.0-30.44 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-30.44-generic 3.8.13.6 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-30-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.3 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC2: holtja 1923 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: holtja 1923 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: holtja 1923 F.... pulseaudio Date: Wed Sep 11 09:06:21 2013 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=06a66bc0-10fa-4001-b3dd-29eb2a8af0a8 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-06-11 (92 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring Ringtail" - Release amd64 (20130424) MachineType: Dell Inc.
