I want to say thank you for the team and give you guys a big hug for
fixing the issues in the kernel that happens in our kinds of the device!
You guys are best!!!! Thank you so much!!!

I have been so depressed ever since I failed to manually install the
latest released kernel 4.17 but today, as usual, I booted into Ubuntu to
see if I can try some other method to update the latest kernel in order
to provide more valuable information and just after few minutes booted
in to the desktop, I got an update notification, well, not hurt to give
it a try, right. Then, during the update, I noticed some code contains
the latest kernel code name and I thought to myself, oh, my god, you
didn't... and the surprise come after the reboot, I excitedly to touch
the touchpad to see if it's working, which works, but I hold up for a
second because there are times touchpad would work for god-knows-what
reason, then I went to check out the setting for the touchpad, and there
it is!!!! I finally see the setting for the touchpad on my device!!!!! I
could literally scream like a maniac if I wasn't in the middle of the
class but I still failed to hold up my emotion by throw my hands to the
air like yelling "hooray" with no sounds.

Anyway, now my kernel version is 'Linux 4.17.0-041700rc3-generic' and
there's no issue at all. And thank you guys for the all the hard work,
thank you so much!!!

Also, there's one severe issue when I tried the Ubuntu 18.04 live that
the screen just failed to rotate to the normal direction which I can be
very sure it's the problem of the Gnome Desktop because when I tried the
Debian 9, I encountered same problem. But I think I should pause for a
while since there's no any update about that distribution yet and
happily enjoy my just update lovely Ubuntu 16.04 with kernel 4.17.

Ok then, thank you guys again!!!! Cheers!

Title:
ASUS T300F Touchpad only works sometimes and no pertinent setting
  under Mouse & Touchpad

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
My laptop is a 2 in 1 model so I don't know if it's because Linux
kernel still can't fully support this kind of device or some other
reason but I really want to use Ubuntu as my study system because I am
a computer science student and the moment I had the current Ubuntu
16.04(few months ago) installed I already fell in love with it even
it's so buggy on my device.

I am also running Ubuntu in a dual boot mode but another system was
installed on another hard drive and that system is Windows 10 but
  everything works fine over there.

I also tried the latest released distribution Ubuntu 18.04 but there's
even more problems over there, 1) the desktop was rotated abnormally,
  2) the touchpad not working on that either. And I run 18.04 in a live
mode but I don't think this matter.

I have also tried Debian 9, also in live mode. And there are same
question occurred just like when I tried Ubuntu 18.04.

So based on my these two experiments on Ubuntu and Debian, I think it
could be the kernel's compatibility problem with my device that cause
the touchpad not working and no setting. As for the rotate abnormally
problem only happened on Ubuntu 18.04 and Debian 9, both of which are
using Gnome as desktop so there might have something to be improved in
Gnome desktop to support my device. And I think it could be a common
issue for 2-in-1 device user, which could be a small percentage of
device that runs Linux so there's fewer issues were reported.

Please, I really want to use this system to help me explore the
computer science world fully. I know it will because I learned a lot
during the process of getting the current Ubuntu installed in my
device and in a dual boot mode. I really think the more I use it, the
more I can understand how this mysterious world works behind the
  screen.

Thanks in advance. And as a computer science student myself, I would
love to know if there's anything I can do to get the kernel to support
my device even I am just a newbie in this field.

  Thanks for reading, cheers.
