Thanks for testing. That was an early 3.8 kernel for 13.04, so it may indicate an issue outside of the kernel that is causing the overheating.
Could you also test the 3.2 final kernel, which is an early kernel for Precise(12.04): http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.2-precise/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249093 Title: LEnovo T410 overheats and shuts down Ubuntu 13.04 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: My lenovo has been overheating and shuing down for the last 2-3 months. I have cleaned the fan and put new thermal paste(the correct amount was applied) but the problem continues. Whenever I use more than 1 core to run my processes the computer shutdown within seconds. I have the laptop's rear raised using a book(without blocking any vents, the battery pack sits on the book) to allow for a better air flow but this does not help. The last few days it started shutting down even when in idle while browsing the internet. I believe there is an issue with the fan control but I need help to verify this and solve it.
