I just tried with Ubuntu 18.04 daily builds and the bug is still present, could anybody care to comment if this bug is ever going to be fixed or not?

The same procedure worked ok from the live cd Have been experiencing this from version 15.04 onwards, version 14.04 seemed to work fine. I found this workaround asking as askubuntu (https://askubuntu.com/questions/632907/cannot-use-wifi- broadcom-802-11-alternative-driver-in-ubuntu-15-04) From the installation media install pool/restricted/b/bcmwl/bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223.271+bdcom-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb pool/main/d/dkms/dkms_2.3-3_all.deb with dpkg -i *.deb I guess that running it from the Additional drivers dialog should be giving some error...
