Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

I found a corresponding bug report in Debian so I have attached a bug
watch. Normally a newer version in Debian would be possibly to sync
automatically to the development version of Ubuntu. However, it looks
like the Ubuntu package for zfs-linux contains some Ubuntu-specific
patches so this will probably need a manual merge once the package
enters Debian.

Oh, and and to get the newer version into Ubuntu bionic, that would
likely require a FeatureFreezeException
