After some rutinary updates automouting for usb memory sticks and mp3 players have stopped working. If I go to the computer:/// in nautilus (using gnome here) and click on the usb icon an error message is displayed: "no se pudo montar el lugar. no se pudo montar el archivo" ("not possible to mount the device. Not possible to mount the file"). Mounting from the shell ( mount -v -t vfat -o noatime /dev/sdd /media/sdd1 ) only works for one of my 3 memory devices (a sansa clip mp3 player). The other two (kingston memory stick and an old easy system mp3 player) the command returns: " wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdd, missing codepage or helper program, or other error". dmesg | tail output: "[ 7321.129926] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdd] Assuming drive cache: write through [ 7321.155885] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdd] 1004544 512-byte hardware sectors (514 MB) [ 7321.162891] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdd] Write Protect is off [ 7321.162898] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdd] Mode Sense: 38 00 00 00 [ 7321.162901] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdd] Assuming drive cache: write through [ 7321.162908] sdd: sdd1 [ 7321.177472] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdd] Attached SCSI removable disk [ 7321.177513] sd 8:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg5 type 0 [14853.799120] FAT: bogus number of reserved sectors [14853.799131] VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev sdd." The weird thing is the 3 devices mount flawesly in my other linux distro (gentoo)... Expecting: it should be possible to mount the devices from computer:/// in nautilus or even they should automount themselves. If not, they should be mountable from the command line with the "mount" command.
