Changing volume with function keys hangs the system when Rhythmbox is
in focus

Bug description:
If I put the focus on any other window, the volume changes
immediately, but if I switch focus to Rhythmbox, it takes about 20
seconds to change and I can not change to another application until
the volume changes.
On #144330 (same bug reported to 'Rhythmbox'), Sebastien Bacher on
2008-06-27 assures us that this is a linux bug not rythmbox.
