Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.16 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance. Shares mounted this way are readable, but writing data to them (or using programs such as EasyTAG to write to them) ultimately fails. This bug did not occur in kernel 4.10. Mounting the share(s) with vers=1.0 does not give the error, but this is a haphazard fix as SMB v3.0 carries many security features with it not avaliable in SMB 1.0. --- ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.7 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 HibernationDevice: RESUME=/dev/mapper/DeusVitam--vg-swap_1 JournalErrors: Error: command ['journalctl', '-b', '--priority=warning', '--lines=1000'] failed with exit code 1: Hint: You are currently not seeing messages from other users and the system.
