Hi Christopher, it's NP900X3C-A03US >From what I've read online, these Samsung laptops have a buggy firmware and Samsung doesn't have a fix (from what I could gather). It seems that in Windows with Samsung's driver package, some piece of software is able to detect that the EC firmware has gotten into a bad state and reset it, while without those drivers (or in Ubuntu) one has to turn off the machine and press a special pin-hole button on the bottom of the laptop to reset that component, after which it'll work again for a while and then get into a bad state.
The issue continues (of course) on 13.10 as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1156121 Title: Samsung 900X no screen on resume after suspend Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The screen remains powered off on resume from suspend (ex: opening the lid).
