Franz Altmüller, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER
where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12-rc7 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-7acn24ww ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247464 Title: Lenovo G700 - Screen gets dark after startup Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a lenovo g700-notebook. i installed ubuntu 13.10. on monday. It was very tricky. On startup with Ubuntu-Install-USB-Stick after aprox. 30 secs. the screen got dark. I didn't know whats going on. so i tried starting several times. At least i mentioned that the brightness was at minimum (screen dark), but with the 'brightness+' (F12) i could see the screen. This behavior still remains, but now i know waht to do. Other users may have problems with this behavior. The brightness-key allows to darken the screen absolutely, so you dont see what happens. At least i'd like to save the screen-brightness, but i'm unable to do this. On startup the brightness is always on 'dark'-mode and i have to brighten up the screen. --- ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: franz 1864 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: franz 1864 F.... pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=8558744e-de55-4cf4-80c0-01958b60b9dc InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-30 (3 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) MachineType: LENOVO 20251 MarkForUpload: True Package: linux (not installed) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-12-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=c4c3b383-0f77-4f5b-a1a7-10bc6016da2d ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.11.0-12-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.11.0-12-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.116 Tags: saucy Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo dmi.bios.date: 06/25/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 7ACN24WW dmi.board.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.board.name: G700 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: 31900003WIN8 STD MLT dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Lenovo G700 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr7ACN24WW:bd06/25/2013:svnLENOVO:pn20251:pvrLenovoG700:rvnLENOVO:rnG700:rvr31900003WIN8STDMLT:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrLenovoG700: dmi.product.name: 20251 dmi.product.version: Lenovo G700 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1247464/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
