Title:
i915 module giving error "failed to get supported _DSM functions"

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Upon a reboot after installing updates in Natty, using the default
kernel provided with the distrubution, this error appears during the
boot process and causes the system to hang: [drm:intel_dsm_pci_probe]
*ERROR* failed to get supported _DSM functions.

The system never recovers from this, requiring a hard shut down, and a
reinstall only to have it happen again.

There is a similar bug filed in RedHat's bug tracking system for the
  same issue. (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=698045)
