Have you try to change your input method to fcitx? The default one is ibus.
Open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + t) and run: # This will print available input methods, you should see fcitx here im-config -l im-config -n fcitx # Switch to fcitx # Or you can just run im-config to do this interactively Logout and login again, you should be able to see a keyboard icon on the lower-left corner, right click on it and select "Configure current input method", you will be able to add fcitx-mozc. I'm using fcitx-anthy in English environment, and it works well for me on Gnome Ubuntu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706353 Title: Japanese input method fcitx does not work (Only Japanese Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: After installing Ubuntu-desktop Daily in Japanese, it is not able to use Japanese input method.
