there is nothing we can do without any verbose information for the
build. -fstack-protector-strong is supported for a while now.

  make error when compiling the kernel

Bug description:
  trying to make the kernel (4.12) I got the following error-messages:
  make -j5# #2
    CHK     include/config/kernel.release
  Cannot use CONFIG_CC_STACKPROTECTOR_STRONG: -fstack-protector-strong not 
supported by compiler
  Makefile:1082: recipe for target 'prepare-compiler-check' failed
  make: *** [prepare-compiler-check] Error 1
  make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
