Public bug reported: SRU Justification
Impact: The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or a minimally backported form of that patch. The v4.11.9 upstream stable patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu kernel as well. git://git.kernel.org/ TEST CASE: TBD The following patches from the v4.11.9 stable release shall be applied: 3227b51e72f4 net: don't call strlen on non-terminated string in dev_set_alias() 95876855a550 net: Fix inconsistent teardown and release of private netdev state. 64603b75f8f6 net: s390: fix up for "Fix inconsistent teardown and release of private netdev state" e34cacd27f47 mac80211: free netdev on dev_alloc_name() error d8d01fc9bad3 decnet: dn_rtmsg: Improve input length sanitization in dnrmg_receive_user_skb 199f4baff672 net: Zero ifla_vf_info in rtnl_fill_vfinfo() 5586883813df net: ipv6: Release route when device is unregistering 83cb92f4cf11 net: vrf: Make add_fib_rules per network namespace flag 6e8f72327b77 af_unix: Add sockaddr length checks before accessing sa_family in bind and connect handlers e607742172be Fix an intermittent pr_emerg warning about lo becoming free. 29b8ea35b0c1 sctp: disable BH in sctp_for_each_endpoint a89d15fc8bac net: caif: Fix a sleep-in-atomic bug in cfpkt_create_pfx e938c05e064c net: tipc: Fix a sleep-in-atomic bug in tipc_msg_reverse ff8cf391fed8 net/mlx5: Remove several module events out of ethtool stats f98a0883afef net/mlx5e: Added BW check for DIM decision mechanism f0e6f2314d66 net/mlx5e: Fix wrong indications in DIM due to counter wraparound 8fc4f0e6c304 net/mlx5: Enable 4K UAR only when page size is bigger than 4K 42b0540a98b1 proc: snmp6: Use correct type in memset 20407b1d4a3a igmp: acquire pmc lock for ip_mc_clear_src() 5113c2dcb96d igmp: add a missing spin_lock_init() 487dd0ab72ed qmi_wwan: new Telewell and Sierra device IDs bdfae324ba15 net: don't global ICMP rate limit packets originating from loopback 247ab3c1c1f7 ipv6: fix calling in6_ifa_hold incorrectly for dad work eb0d418f2e57 sctp: return next obj by passing pos + 1 into sctp_transport_get_idx 050efbe12925 net/mlx5e: Fix min inline value for VF rep SQs c7d1260afbd0 net/mlx5e: Avoid doing a cleanup call if the profile doesn't have it f464aace786f net/mlx5: Wait for FW readiness before initializing command interface 941bdec095d5 net/mlx5e: Fix timestamping capabilities reporting c207e0594f5d decnet: always not take dst->__refcnt when inserting dst into hash table 16c4d1be8fe4 net: 8021q: Fix one possible panic caused by BUG_ON in free_netdev 4ade61f46363 ipv6: Do not leak throw route references f19613afaf26 rtnetlink: add IFLA_GROUP to ifla_policy a3042f8a0cdc netfilter: synproxy: fix conntrackd interaction 887e338c2e83 NFSv4.x/callback: Create the callback service through svc_create_pooled c806e0188da8 xen/blkback: don't use xen_blkif_get() in xen-blkback kthread 9de0e07dfb9d MIPS: head: Reorder instructions missing a delay slot dba185d7a5d6 MIPS: Avoid accidental raw backtrace 5033e622480a MIPS: pm-cps: Drop manual cache-line alignment of ready_count f1a8a4fe8324 MIPS: Fix IRQ tracing & lockdep when rescheduling a189e2f29454 ALSA: hda - The v4.11.9 upstream stable patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu kernel as well. git://git.kernel.org/ TEST CASE: TBD The following patches from the v4.11.9 stable release shall be applied: 3227b51e72f4 net: don't call strlen on non-terminated string in dev_set_alias() 95876855a550 net: Fix inconsistent teardown and release of private netdev state. 64603b75f8f6 net: s390: fix up for "Fix inconsistent teardown and release of private netdev state" e34cacd27f47 mac80211: free netdev on dev_alloc_name() error d8d01fc9bad3 decnet: dn_rtmsg: Improve input length sanitization in dnrmg_receive_user_skb 199f4baff672 net: Zero ifla_vf_info in rtnl_fill_vfinfo() 5586883813df net: ipv6: Release route when device is unregistering 83cb92f4cf11 net: vrf: Make add_fib_rules per network namespace flag 6e8f72327b77 af_unix: Add sockaddr length checks before accessing sa_family in bind and connect handlers e607742172be Fix an intermittent pr_emerg warning about lo becoming free. 29b8ea35b0c1 sctp: disable BH in sctp_for_each_endpoint a89d15fc8bac net: caif: Fix a sleep-in-atomic bug in cfpkt_create_pfx e938c05e064c net: tipc: Fix a sleep-in-atomic bug in tipc_msg_reverse ff8cf391fed8 net/mlx5: Remove several module events out of ethtool stats f98a0883afef net/mlx5e: Added BW check for DIM decision mechanism f0e6f2314d66 net/mlx5e: Fix wrong indications in DIM due to counter wraparound 8fc4f0e6c304 net/mlx5: Enable 4K UAR only when page size is bigger than 4K 42b0540a98b1 proc: snmp6: Use correct type in memset 20407b1d4a3a igmp: acquire pmc lock for ip_mc_clear_src() 5113c2dcb96d igmp: add a missing spin_lock_init() 487dd0ab72ed qmi_wwan: new Telewell and Sierra device IDs bdfae324ba15 net: don't global ICMP rate limit packets originating from loopback 247ab3c1c1f7 ipv6: fix calling in6_ifa_hold incorrectly for dad work eb0d418f2e57 sctp: return next obj by passing pos + 1 into sctp_transport_get_idx 050efbe12925 net/mlx5e: Fix min inline value for VF rep SQs c7d1260afbd0 net/mlx5e: Avoid doing a cleanup call if the profile doesn't have it f464aace786f net/mlx5: Wait for FW readiness before initializing command interface 941bdec095d5 net/mlx5e: Fix timestamping capabilities reporting c207e0594f5d decnet: always not take dst->__refcnt when inserting dst into hash table 16c4d1be8fe4 net: 8021q: Fix one possible panic caused by BUG_ON in free_netdev 4ade61f46363 ipv6: Do not leak throw route references f19613afaf26 rtnetlink: add IFLA_GROUP to ifla_policy a3042f8a0cdc netfilter: synproxy: fix conntrackd interaction 887e338c2e83 NFSv4.x/callback: Create the callback service through svc_create_pooled c806e0188da8 xen/blkback: don't use xen_blkif_get() in xen-blkback kthread 9de0e07dfb9d MIPS: head: Reorder instructions missing a delay slot dba185d7a5d6 MIPS: Avoid accidental raw backtrace 5033e622480a MIPS: pm-cps: Drop manual cache-line alignment of ready_count f1a8a4fe8324 MIPS: Fix IRQ tracing & lockdep when rescheduling a189e2f29454 ALSA: hda -
