I have what I believe is the same bug affecting an ASUS UX32VD. I have also been unable to figure out what logs to post, but the system appears to boot normally with no video output.
I believe it is the same Kernel bug as is reported for ArchLinux here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=167463, as the symptoms sound the same and the suggested workaround is effective. I am able to successfully boot the most recent 3.8 kernel with Ubuntu 13.10 installed, but the default 3.11 kernel does not appear to work. Workaround: Switch to CSM mode in BIOS, thus avoiding UEFI boot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1229686 Title: No video output at all when booting 13.10 on Asus Zenbook UX31A Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After upgrading to 13.10 from 13.04 my computer booted into a black screen. I could hear the login sound but couldn't see anything. Switching to some virtual console isn't working either, nor was anything visible during the boot process. I also tried to boot 13.10 from USB with a very similar result. The IGP of the Zenbook UX31A is the Intel HD4000.
