mpt3sas (and earlier mptsas/mpt2sas) as shipped doesn't support ata
secure erase:
/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_ST2000DL003-9VT1_XXXXXXX:

The running kernel lacks CONFIG_IDE_TASK_IOCTL support for this device.
