Public bug reported: Hi, the system continued just fine after this crash happened on my Yakkety Test system. In fact I found that accidentally when running dmesg for something else.
For now I primarily wanted to collect data before loosing it due to a reboot. I ran the same workload multiple times before without that anywhere in the log before. I checked what else happened at the time and it seems that this was caused by an DPDK enabled openvswitch that I stopped in the cleanup for the next test. That process before was interrupted being only half setup due to an issue in my setup script. But I had cases like this a lot and never hit the issue. So for now if nothing obvious to you is found please consider this just a data store to find it again if more similar cases show up. Since there was no crash, full stop or anything I couldn't provide any dump data (at least I know now way that would still help) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: linux-image-4.8.0-26-generic 4.8.0-26.28 ProcVersionSignature: User Name 4.8.0-26.28-generic 4.8.0 Uname: Linux 4.8.0-26-generic x86_64 AlsaDevices: total 0 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 1 Oct 24 08:43 seq crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 33 Oct 24 08:43 timer AplayDevices: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'aplay' ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 ArecordDevices: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'arecord' AudioDevicesInUse: Error: command ['fuser', '-v', '/dev/snd/seq', '/dev/snd/timer'] failed with exit code 1: Date: Mon Oct 24 13:35:08 2016 IwConfig: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'iwconfig' MachineType: HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 PciMultimedia: ProcFB: 0 EFI VGA ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.8.0-26-generic root=UUID=a7984629-a273-4d89-9dc6-8f2e02f573a3 ro --- console=ttyS1,115200 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-4.8.0-26-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-4.8.0-26-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.161 RfKill: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'rfkill' SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 03/05/2015 dmi.bios.vendor: HP dmi.bios.version: P89 dmi.chassis.type: 23 dmi.chassis.vendor: HP dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHP:bvrP89:bd03/05/2015:svnHP:pnProLiantDL360Gen9:pvr:cvnHP:ct23:cvr: dmi.product.name: ProLiant DL360 Gen9 dmi.sys.vendor: HP ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug uec-images yakkety -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1636211 Title: crash due to kernel NULL pointer around uio Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi, the system continued just fine after this crash happened on my Yakkety Test system.
