** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208089 Title: [Compaq Presario R3000 AMD Notebook PC] Random boot failures Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: I've installed Lubuntu 13.04 on an old Compaq Presario R3000 machine. Whenever I start the machine, there's a 2 in 3 change (approx.) that this machine will not boot and either hang with a blank screen right after the grub menu or hang after adding swap (After the message "Adding 521212k swap on /dev/sda5. Priority:-1 extents:1 across:521212k"). I actually landed on bug report #903961 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/903961) after searching for this issue and seeing twice the same issue on askubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/204905/compaq-presario-r3000-randomly- fails-to-boot-on-11-10-12-04-12-10 and http://askubuntu.com/questions/87187/11-10-randomly-fails-to-boot-on- compaq-presario-r3000. I reopened the bug report, but was asked to file a new bug report for this issue. So, here it is :) From reading the previous bug report, it seems this issue was fixed in 64-bit kernels. What additional information can I provide?
