I can connect to internet via 3g. I can also share this internet connection with my laptop on windows 7 (Settings > Wireless networks > Usb connection sharing) via a usb cable, and use internet on my laptop. I also have Ubuntu 12.04 precise (latest updates as of now, -pae kernel) on this laptop. When I boot ubuntu on the laptop, the usb internet connection share functionality does not work. The phone is detected as a usb device, I also see a "Samsung Electronics Android Usb Device" under wired networks but it is disabled. I cannot connect to internet on my laptop through my phone. dmesg output: [ 625.190610] usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 8 [ 625.190796] rndis_host 1-1:1.0: usb0: unregister 'rndis_host' usb-0000:00:12.2-1, RNDIS device [ 628.125774] usb 3-3: USB disconnect, device number 2 [ 637.344246] usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 9 using ehci_hcd [ 637.485880] cdc_acm 1-3:1.0: This device cannot do calls on its own.
