just happened to me on an xubuntu 16.04 live system, after having done
some heavy IO operations on 1 ntfs drive and 2 unmounted drives (had 2x
dd backup stored on an ntfs drive, restored them to the 2 unpartioned
drives, ran sync, and.... its been over 10 minutes now, not returning,
expected it to take a second or 2...)
