Unfortunately HDMI is still NOT working with this version of the linux/Ubuntu kernel. When booting I see the Acer welcome screen with the usual BIOS and Boot Sequence options, followed by a purple screen without the Ubuntu logo, shortly afterwards my screen just goes black/blank. When I connect the analogue cable and select the analogue connection on my monitor I see the Ubuntu logon menu and my system behaves normally. Therefore I will tag my bug as "kernel bug exists upstream" as requested Using the upstream kernel I have also executed the previously requested command - here is its output:- study@Eastford-Study:~$ uname -r 3.8.13-03081310-generic study@Eastford-Study:~$ sudo lshw -C display sudo: unable to resolve host Eastford-Study [sudo] password for study: *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: RS880 [Radeon HD 4250] vendor: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI physical id: 5 bus info: pci@0000:01:05.0 version: 00 width: 32 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=radeon latency=0 resources: irq:18 memory:c0000000-cfffffff ioport:e000(size=256) memory:fea00000-fea0ffff memory:fe900000-fe9fffff study@Eastford-Study:~$ On 30/09/13 21:41, Joseph Salisbury wrote: > Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream stable kernel? > Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Problem/Bug: HDMI video output from pc to Samsung Syncmaster P2250 via HDMI/DVI adaptor cable no longer works after Ubuntu's Software Updater updated my system from linux-image 3.8.0.30.44 to 3.8.0.31.46. I get an initial purple screen, without the Ubuntu logo, then absolutely nothing. Had to revert to old style analogue connection to make my system useable. --- ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.3 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: study 1937 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: study 1937 F.... pulseaudio CRDA: Error: command ['iw', 'reg', 'get'] failed with exit code 1: nl80211 not found.
