I went into time&date settings and checked that time&date are set to update via the internet. It was so configured. I brought up a terminal window and the correct date was shown in response to the date command. I went back into date&time settings and unchecked and rechecked the update via the internet option. I logged off from the desktop session and logged back in (no reboot) and all is correct again. Annoying bug which almost caused me to miss an appointment. Description: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Release: 12.04 Completely up to date, no strange repositories.
