I'd like to perform a bisect to figure out what commit caused this regression. We need to identify the earliest kernel where the issue started happening as well as the latest kernel that did not have this issue.
Can you test the following kernels and report back? We are looking for the first kernel version that exhibits this bug: 4.4-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-rc1+cod1-wily/ 4.4-rc4: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-rc4-wily/ 4.4 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-wily/ You don't have to test every kernel, just up until the kernel that first has this bug. Thanks in advance! ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Tags added: kernel-da-key ** Tags added: performing-bisect xenial ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: High Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1560631 Title: qla2xxx panics when module is loaded Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux source package in Xenial: Confirmed Bug description: when upgrading from 4.3.0-5 to 4.4.0-15, the system no longer boots, due to kernel panics on the qla2xxx module. blacklisting this module, updating initrd, corrected this issue as a work around.
