Owais Idris, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp- pavilion-14-v000-notebook-pc- series/6936223/model/7234454#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (F.42). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated-f.42 ** Package changed: linux-lts-trusty (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-lts-trusty in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421736 Title: 'ALPS Touchpad' incorrectly detected as PS/2 mouse in Hp 14-v015tu Notebook pc on any ubuntu version Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: ALPS touchpad drivers. $ sudo xinput list ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ PS/2 Generic Mouse id=11 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ HP Truevision HD id=9 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=10 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ HP Wireless hotkeys id=12 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ HP WMI hotkeys id=13 [slave keyboard (3)] Mouse and touchpad shows no touchpad tab.
