Bradley Arsenault, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.19 to 4.4-rc7 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ?
Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. After the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. When I start my computer, Ubuntu will prompt me to enter my disk encryption password. This works fine on the kernel 3.19.0-28-generic, but if I use any of the newer kernels, like 29, 30, 31 and 32, the system appears to freeze as soon as it gets to the prompt screen. I can't actually tell whats going on when its frozen. The only symptom is that it does not accept keyboard input anymore, so I can't actually enter my encryption password. Nothing happens when I press the keys. It might have been that 1) the whole computer had a kernel panic, 2) it might be frozen in some other way, 3) or it may be just that something went wrong when setting up my keyboard to accept input and that the computer is otherwise running fine. I don't really know, all I can really tell is that if I go back to an older kernel, like 28, it works absolutely fine, but anything newer and I can't boot my computer at all. --- ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1.7 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: bradley 1734 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: bradley 1734 F.... pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 EcryptfsInUse: Yes HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=a56109c4-0eb7-418f-b525-2ae82c52ec32 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-08-31 (73 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 064e:9700 Suyin Corp.
