When this happens, the only way to stop the fan running is to restart the computer - at which point the computer returns to normal again. The expected behaviour is that the fan should only run when needed - and when the computer cools down, the fan speed should then decrease or indeed stop altogether. However, at the moment it is getting "stuck" on what would seem the top fan speed. Sorry but I don't know which is the relevant package for filing this bug. Do let me know if I can provide any more information that would be useful in solving this issue. Also - I should point out that I am using the standard gnome desktop rather than the netbook interface that is offered in NRE.
