Kernel based modesetting did work before on this machine (with Intel i830M chipset) Unfortunately the last update I did on the machine was on Feb 19 2013. So the package to blame could have been released between February 19th and July 3rd 2013. When I boot with the "nomodeset" parameter in GRUB the machine boots into X normally, however the "VESA" driver is used instead of "i830M" like before. ----- Release: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS Kernel: 3.2.0-48-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1198287/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
