It appears the .deb file is corrupt. Probably because your file system is full. You will want to clear up some space, maybe delete some older kernels if you have several install.
Once there is free space run the following from a terminal: sudo apt-get install -f sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get update Then re-install the package or updates. If that does not resolve your issue, please mark the bug as "Confirmed" ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483459 Title: package linux-image-3.16.0-44-generic (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: cannot copy extracted data for './boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-44-generic' to '/boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-44-generic .dpkg-new': unexpected end of file or stream Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: /BOOT IS FULL!! cannot purge because unmet dependencies... and cannot install unmet dependencies because boot if full!!!
