Seems to be fixed, I hadn't had this issue for some time now currently
using the 3.13.0-58-generic kernel.

Bug description:
Just updated to 3.13.0-52-generic kernel, the screen switches
resolution after every login. This is caused by a clone view mode that
is enabled by the fact that an "Unknown" display device is considered
to be connected to the VGA1 output, despite nothing is connected at
all!
