Public bug reported: The touchpad is wrongly recognized as an Elantech PS/2 and behaves as mouse. It works but it misses many of the typical gestures needed by a touchpad, like two fingers scrolling or side scrolling.
A possible solution could be to patch the kernel to have the required driver, as you search on the web it is a very common issue among ASUS users. Here [1] you can find a patched kernel. I will try it to check if it works and corrects the issue. 1 - https://github.com/hanipouspilot/ubuntu-fixes/tree/pilot6 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: linux-image-3.16.0-31-generic 3.16.0-31.43~14.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-31.43~14.04.1-generic 3.16.7-ckt5 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-31-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.7 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Mar 21 15:03:36 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-03-21 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20150218.1) SourcePackage: linux-lts-utopic UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-lts-utopic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug trusty ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Focaltech touchpad in emulated as a mouse + Focaltech touchpad is emulated as an Elantech mouse -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-lts-utopic in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1434822 Title: Focaltech touchpad is emulated as an Elantech mouse Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Status in linux-lts-utopic package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The touchpad is wrongly recognized as an Elantech PS/2 and behaves as mouse.
