You have been subscribed to a public bug: Currently ubuntu has as the SHMMAX 32mb, this is the default kernel value, most other linux distributions use a much bigger value for the SHMMAX and SHMALL, for example opensuse does 2^64-1 for a 64bit distro. It would be nice to have the installer change the SHMMAX value and the SHMALL value bases on the total system ram.
