freeman, thank you for your comment. So your issue may be dealt with as soon as possible, and so your hardware may be tracked by having necessary debugging information automatically attached, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu repository kernel via: ubuntu-bug linux
For more on why this is most helpful, please read the official Ubuntu documentation from the respective Ubuntu developer groups, and triage teams: Ubuntu Bug Control and Ubuntu Bug Squad: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices Ubuntu Kernel Team: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Policies/DuplicateBugs Ubuntu Community: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it. Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1391496 Title: [Intel DQ67SW] Can not enter password to decrypt disk at boot Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I have upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 to 14.10. My whole disk is encrypted with luks and since the upgrade I have found I can no longer unlock my disk at boot. The enter password screen appears, but typing does not cause any characters to appear in the password box. However, if I hit ctrl-alt f7 (not sure of the precise function key) I get a black screen with a flashing white cursor and I can see the password that I entered. This would seem to imply that this is not a problem with the usb drivers, as has been reported in other similar bugs. It's as if the focus is simply in the wrong place at the time when I need to enter my password. Entering the password anyway and pressing enter has no effect. By using Grub to select the previous kernel, I can then decrypt my disk and use the system as normal. The working kernel version is 3.13.0-39-generic. The problematic kernel is 3.16.0-24-generic. --- ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC3: mjs510 3162 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC2: mjs510 3162 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: mjs510 3162 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: mjs510 3162 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=66fe5f6c-9937-43f3-90ed-9764c8a9a263 IwConfig: eth0 no wireless extensions. lo no wireless extensions.
