I added "acpi_backlight=vendor" to the grub parameters (/etc/default/grub). Fixes the backlight issue, in my Inspiron R14

The system starts up normally, at the grub menu the brightness is normal and as soon as the Ubuntu boot-screen appears the brightness is set to minimal level (what unfortunately means completely turned off). The hot-keys work, so that I can immediately adjust the brightness and log in to the system - but it is very annoying. I tested 3.8.18, 3.8.19, 3.8.20 as well as mainline 3.9.0 and 3.9.1 kernel but the bug persists. Or could it be a bug in the grub config? Please let me know what log or config files may be helpful.
