DNS Configuration

I'm trying to centralize my configuration by switching to DNS for 
Kerberos configuration. So far so good - but I can't get rid of this 
statement:

[v4 domain_realm]
        .domain = DOMAIN
Remove it and Zephyr breaks. I thought I could replace it with the DNS 
record:

_kerberos	IN	TXT	"DOMAIN"

Why not?

Also, can someone please expound on why I can't get rid of:

[libdefaults]
        default_realm = LAT
Why can't Kerberos derive the default realm from the default domain?
