The system cannot guess which version of the name is the correct one. I see this "bug" as a feature. The local mailbox portion of an email is case sensitive, per RFC 2821. They should be treated as seperate email addresses. See: http://email.about.com/od/emailbehindthescenes/f/email_case_sens.htm It might seem like in practice you can combine the results based on a lowercase version, but it will be completely broken when you hit a rare exception. I don't think it is a problem to scan the list for the right email address.
