When started over ssh, Kontact cannot access Akonadi resources. For instance,
KMail cannot access the Maildir resource. I have to manually stop/start Akonadi
using akonadictl in a remote shell to get it to work. Restarting using a remote
akonaditray fails.
This functionality is fundamental in networked environments where computers are
routinely accessed remotely.
