As in the day after I finally filed this bug, Kmail attempted to send it. Not sure what changed but it is now at least sending the email. It has a little delay now, and it failed to send the attachments once, but at least its sending the email. Notes: Waited 3 days and several configs (deleted the send/receive configs and recreated them) before filing this. I also tried adding the dummy destination, and it wouldn't send through that either. also tried several restarts, both powering off and killing all the processes. (Akonadi and mail related).
