It is possible to archive kmail's folders in compressed files and later restore
them, and it's also possible to export contacts to files, but I think that you
want something like a Kontact backup system that backs-up everything that is in
kontact right? Technically KMail by itself doesn't store contacts, since that
is handled by KAddressBook. But I can see the advantages of a KMail only backup
system, because that would backup accounts, signatures, templates and all that.
