Summary: kmail crashes when started
Product: kmail
Version: unspecified
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
Version: (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
CRASH DETAILS:
ga...@vm1520:~$ kmail
<unknown program name>(5828)/: Communication problem with "kmail" , it
probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a
reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply,
the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired,
or the network connection was broken." "
ga...@vm1520:~$
ga...@vm1520:~$ QList: Out of memory
KCrash: Application 'kmail' crashing...
ga...@vm1520:~$
No backtrace window appears.
This happens always in the same way.
The RAM and swap are probably filled up, because Openoffice or Firefox often
disappear, and the hard disk is busy for minutes.
HISTORY:
I have been using kmail happily for years, I have multiple Gigabytes of emails
stored in a disconnected IMAP.
Recently a few new emails had arrived and I clicked on one to see it. Kmail
crashed.
It has never been able to start since.
WHAT I TRIED:
I upgraded Kubuntu and kmail to the available newest Ubuntu packages.
I assume that this information is insufficient to fix the bug, but I am happy
to follow your instructions and report the results.
Thanks -- Gabor
