I tested kaddressbook (4.3) as front-end to manage contacts in a LDAP directory
(addressbook). The server runs openldap 2.4.
Using kaddressbook important information like role, work address and home
address can be specified for a contact.
kaddressbook uses kdepimlibs (kabc) for LDAP server based addressbooks.
kdepimlibs
does not support role and work address for LDAP based contacts (addressees) and
discards this information without any information to the user. This applies
also for less important information like blog, IM, custom fields, etc.
Furthermore, the LDAP cache options cannot be set and saved using the edit
cache dialog of kabc.
