Simply in a shell create a new start folder, e.g. MailTest Then inside it create more than 1000 maildir folders: for i in `seq 1 1010`; do mkdir -p $i/new $i/cur $i/tmp; done Then create a new receiving account of type maildir, selecting the start-dir "MailTest". You will see that you will not find e.g. the folders 982 .. 999 in kmails folder tree.
