In my recent attempts with kmail 5.3.0 (fedora 24), it took literally minutes to get the list of messages in the INBOX synced (and, indeed, progress bar was slowly progressing, yet I had not enough patience to wait for the list of messages to pop up)... Hence, please, close this one too as "unconfirmed" or "not reproducible".
