It seems quite clear to me that it is Qt 5.6 that has a regression in the xcb platform plugin. My kubuntu uses Qt 5.5.1 and does not seem to be effected. The patch makes it work, but it is not the "proper" fix. I hope Qt 5.6.1 will fix it, but if not we might have to make a temporary workaround...
