I think that the transition to QML will be slow and smooth: we should continue to use QWidgets on existing applications/UIs while new applications should use QML. Anyway we have a chance to break binary compatibility so we have to increase our version number. Personally I see some needed tasks for kdelibs: * Splitting logic and UI (ex: removing QWidgets dependencies from kio) * Splitting kdeui in 3 different libraries: kdecoreui (will contain KIcon, etc...), kdewidgetsui (QWidget based code) and kdeclarativeui (new QML based code). * libplasma2 * Moving away KHTML from kdelibs
