As a user,
I have enabled audio thumbnails in the project preferences
The timeline header preferences
Result - Audio waveforms appear on 1 of my tracks (wav file) but not on a 2nd
track from a pre-edited audio only sequence.
Note: I pre-edited the audio sequence and the audio thumbnails showed fine,
When I add that audio only sequence to the timeline, audio thumbnails do not
appear even when checking all the on/off switches.

The audio dropped out in the middle because I was sharing a resource as well,
there was a crash (live) when enabling and disabling the audio waveforms
