            Bug ID: 496406
Summary: After alt-tabbing, clicking does not have full focus
(middle click to paste does not work)
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
           Version: 6.2.3
          Platform: NixOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: tabbox
          Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: ben.agaric+...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

1. Have a browser window in focus, and also a Konsole window and a Kate
document window open
2. Switch windows with the Task Switcher All Windows "Forward" keyboard
shortcut (or the Current Application "Forward" shortcut) to either Konsole or
Kate
3. Attempt to middle click to paste (or even regular click first, it will move
the caret position but middle click to paste will not work).

OBSERVED RESULT

The window has focus for typing, but not for middle-click paste (until after
typing). In Konsole, the caret will be an outline instead of solid.

EXPECTED RESULT

Using alt+tab (or other keyboard configured shortcut for window switching)
FULLY focuses the window, and middle click to paste works.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: NixOS 24.11
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.8.0
Kernel Version: 6.6.60 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics
Memory: 92.1 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon 780M

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

krunner does not have this problem when used to switch among windows.

Firefox and nvim seem to capture the middle click paste while Kate and
Konquerer do not.

Tried disabling Activities in the Task Switcher "Filter windows by" options,
given 469312

And changing activation policies, also mentioned as a workaround in that issue.
(Even focus follow mouse requires the pointer leave the window and return to
work as expected.)

Tried making all "Inactive Inner Window Actions" be "Activate, raise, and pass
click" for Middle click and Right click, not only for Left click.

Also tried setting focus stealing prevention to none.

Hope it's not relevant, but i have right click configured to be two fingers
pressing the touchpad such that middle click is three fingers pressing the
touchpad.
