I am able to save and load author information for .kra files, that seems to be
fixed.
I'm not able to save/load author information from PNG files. I also used gimp
to checking the loading/saving of author information and Krita was never able
to read/save png author information.
Setting to confirmed only for missing .png Author information
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create an author profile in settings -> configure krita-> author
2. Ensure author profile is active in settings -> active author profile
3. Open .kra file, edit, and save .kra file
4. Check authorship saved in File-> Document information->Author
5. Export as PNG in File-> Export -> Save
6. Enable "Sign with author data" and click ok
7a. Open exported png file in Krita and check authorship again in File
->Document Information->Author (observe author information is blank)
7b. Open png in Gimp. In topbar go to Image->metadata->edit metadata (observe
author information is blank)
