This is being fixed as we speak.
As a matter of fact, the "new" version of the avfilter.drawbox and
avfilter.drawgrid effects/filters will have keyframes for all parameters except
the color. That means you can animate the box' position, dimensions and border
thickness. Likewise, the grid can be animated, too.
I will post here once the updates have made it into the nightly builds.
