Bug ID: 495321
Summary: Quick Checkbox to Toggle Bluetooth Visibility
Classification: Plasma
Product: Bluedevil
Version: git-stable-Plasma/5.27
Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: system tray
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
The
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click at the bluedevil tray icon to open its menu, and make sure bluetooth
is enabled.
2. Try to send a file to your system via bluetooth from an unpaired phone.
3. Note you can't find your system in the available bluetooth neighbours list
on the phone and realize that bluetooth visibility is off in your system.
4. In an attempt to turn it on, click at the bluedevil tray icon again, the
quick one-stop shop for frequent bluetooth related tasks, and see what it has
to offer.
OBSERVED RESULT
Although there is a checkbox to enable/disable bluetooth in the menu, there is
none to toggle bluetooth visibility.
EXPECTED RESULT
Since (temporarily) making bluetooth visible is a basic, frequently encountered
task with incoming bluetooth shares, there should be a checkbox available in
the bluedevil tray icon menu, so visibility can be toggled there without
opening (and then closing again) System Settings.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: MX 23 KDE
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The "Visible" checkbox would fit nicely next to the existing "Enable Bluetooth"
checkbox in the header of the (left-click) tray menu, but it could also go in
the right-click menu instead.
