Clarification: It's the "places" panel in the sidebar that has white text on
light gray background

I tested this in a Ubuntu 24.10 VM with Gnome 47 using the default theme. I'm
not seeing the problem you see.
Installed Dolphin
The Places area looks as I'd expect with black text on the grey background

I noticed that from the Ubuntu App Store, the version of Dolphin installed is
23.08.4, but you have reported having 24.08.1. We need more information in
order to narrow down the bug. Could you please let us know:

1. How did you install Dolphin?

2. Have you changed anything in Gnome - Settings - Appearance? (If so, what)

3. Have you changed any settings in Dolphin or installed any services from the
Configure menu?
